The holiday season can be a wonderful time of reflection and appreciation. At Washington School, we are fortunate to have the support from all the families that make up our school community. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with our students each day. With great appreciation, and on behalf of our entire staff at Washington School, I extend our best wishes for a relaxing and joy-filled holiday season with family and friends!
Please read on for more information about current and future school events.
Community Involvement
Thank you to all who attended our annual Thanksgiving Parade and Assembly program and contributed to our community food drive. The entire program was held outside again this year. The lawn was literally full with parents, grandparents, and other family members as we ushered in the holiday season with this spirited community event. The floats and student performances were better than ever! Along the way, we contributed multiple boxes of food to Rutherford Social Services.
Holiday Mitten Tree
Our Holiday Mitten Tree is another way Washington School families are supporting the greater community during the holiday season. In addition to mittens, we are also accepting donations of new scarves, hats, gloves, and socks. We appreciate your generosity as we help others in need.
Pillars of Character
Our Character Education program is in full swing. During the month of December, we focus on the Pillar of Caring. All staff wore red on December 7th to commemorate the day and Pillar. Mr. Bligh, our Physical Education teacher, read a book to the students and delivered a nice message on the many ways we Care for others and ourselves. Our teachers focused on Caring in their classrooms. Each student will have the opportunity to earn a “swag tag” by completing a designated Caring activity. In the ensuing months, we will focus on the Pillars of Fairness, Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, and Citizenship.
