With the holiday season upon us, we can reflect on a productive and exciting fall session. October was a very busy month. We celebrated our Week of Respect, setting the foundation for our year-long character education program. Corey the Dribbler reminded us how we can maintain a healthy school environment by following the acronym R.E.A.D. – Respect, Education, Attitude and Don’t Bully. Our annual Hoops and Goals fundraising event for charities raised over $2,500 that was donated to the Andrew Ortega Foundation and Alex’s Superhero Fund. In November we welcomed parents for fall conferences, our annual Visitation Day and our Thanksgiving parade, assembly and food drive. Our students have been working hard in their classrooms. They are particularly enjoying the newly adopted Writer’s Workshop Units of Study writing program. With the strides they are making across the curriculum, we look forward to a 2018 filled with promise.
A cornerstone of our success at Washington School has always been the commitment of our staff and of our families. We share a common vision for our children who feel our collective enthusiasm and enjoy the time they spend at school. As we approach the new year, join me in renewing our promise to be partners in education, for the benefit of each and every child at Washington School.
On behalf of our entire staff, I wish all of you a relaxing, enjoyable holiday season filled with peace.
