Our second graders had a blast learning compound words through an interactive and engaging activity! In Mrs. D’Anneo’s class, students participated in a Compound Word Snowball Fight– but instead of real snow, they used words! Each student crumpled a word into a “snowball,” and tossed it into the pile. Then, they each picked up a “snowball”, flattened it out, read the word, and searched for their matching partner to create a compound word. It was a fun and hands-on way to reinforce their learning. This activity also aligns with our Profile of a Rutherford Graduate competencies such as collaboration and communication.
