Beginning Friday, September 8, all students in grades one, two and three will report directly to the multipurpose room each morning, entering the building through the brown triple doors. Drop off will take place between 8:10 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Supervision is provided. Students will sit in specific areas designated for each class. A brief assembly will be held each morning. No student should arrive at school prior to 8:10 a.m. and all students must be present by 8:30 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will not be permitted to enter the building at or near the multipurpose room. They must be signed in at the main office by a parent/guardian and will be marked as tardy. You should not drop your child to enter the building alone if you arrive at or past 8:30 a.m. This may be enforced at any time. Please do not place your child in this position.
Grades one through three will dismiss daily at 3:05 p.m. Students in grade one will be dismissed into the courtyard area via the brown triple doors. Students in grade two are dismissed from the two separate sets of doors at the rear of the original building. Ms. Kiley and Mrs. Podolanczuk dismiss from door number one. Ms. Rossiter and Mrs. Fesken/Ms. Tzeiler dismiss from door number two. Students in grade three will be dismissed from the main entrance to the school located on Wood Street.
The Integrated Pre-K 3 class will meet from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Pre-K ABA class will meet from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. These students will enter through the brown triple doors. The doors will be opened each morning at 8:55 a.m. for each of these classes. The Integrated Pre-K 4 class will meet from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. These students will enter through the library door. The door will open at 12:25 p.m. All Pre-K classes will be dismissed from the brown triple doors.
Parking is an area of concern with which I require your cooperation. The Washington Avenue side of the school has been established as a “drop off only” zone. Parents will not be permitted to exit their cars at all in this area. If you choose to walk your child to the door, you must park on the blocks near the school, not on those adjacent to the property. There can be no sustained parking on these parts of Wood Street or Washington Avenue. Double parking will not be permitted at any time, including during dismissal. Please allow yourself extra time to park on the blocks near the school and walk to the building. Do not block intersections by illegally parking near corners. With the safety and well being of the children in mind, I will require strict adherence to these policies. There is a crossing guard at the corner of Wood Street and Washington Avenue. All children should cross in this supervised safe zone. Students and parents should not cross the street in front of or through the drop off line.
Note: The “drop off only” zone will be available for grades 1-3 only from 8:10 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. There is no drop off zone for Pre-K students. Pre-K students must be walked to the door by a parent or guardian.
Please be assured that no student is to be dismissed unless a parent/guardian is present. You are required, via InfoSnap, to provide the names of all adults who may pick up your child. Your list should be as comprehensive as possible. If another adult not on your list is to pick up your child any day, a written note or email must be forwarded to the main office in advance. A separate form must be completed if you will allow older siblings to pick up your child. It can be found under the K-3 Student Dismissal Forms link on our website. This form will also be required from parents who remain in their car and send a sibling to pick up a child. It is essential that all information in InfoSnap is current and accurate.
