The second grade
students designed a landscape to include a mountain range, plateau, valley and an island.

The scientists made a map of the landscape and will rebuild it during the next lab based on their detailed map. The students will then use the model to monitor the effects of a rainstorm and the resulting erosion that occurs. Ultimately, second graders will construct a system to divert the run-off away from their island safely to save lives and property.
Designing in sand was great fun!
