Research shows that students who have a large number of absences in the first few years of school are significantly more likely to be below grade level by the end of the third grade and also be behind their peers in social and emotional development as well. This gap continues to widen as the child continues in their school career. It is imperative that children are in school to collaborate and learn from their peers and teachers.
Once again this year, we are recognizing students who have perfect attendance at the end of each trimester. This allows a student who may have been sick for a day or two to be recognized for their improved attendance during the other trimesters. We were so pleased to have so many students receive a Perfect Attendance backpack tag for their efforts in Trimester One. If your child did not have perfect attendance last trimester, hopefully he/she will earn it during the second trimester. Thank you for every effort you have made to have your child in school, on-time and schedule appointments outside the school day.
