Lincoln celebrated the arts this week by hosting our well attended art show and music concert. Ms. Clossey turned the hallways into a museum displaying multi-media projects, drawings and sculptures. She also had a family “Eye Spy” hunt which directed the children to find art supplies throughout the exhibit. Ms. DeBouter’s class displayed their photographs and accompanying poetry that night as well. Community 106 participated in a photography and poetry project called “Voices from the Land: Integrating Language and Landscape, Art and Culture.” Students used iPads to take nature photography, often using photo booth to enhance their photos. Then, they wrote free verse or rhyming poems to express what the photo is “saying.”
The first and second graders hosted their families at the EIEIO concert. Ms. Berkowitz led the students in song and movement to a packed crowd. The children sang beautifully and left us all humming the famous EIEIO song.
