During the week of January 26th students will participate in the Great Kindness Challenge. Students will receive a list of acts that will show them specific ways they can make the world better each day. A list of acts is attached. Parent Letter_GKC Students can then see if they were able to accomplish any of the tasks during the week. Building in spirit days to remind students of ways to be kind will also enhance the week. The Correlation Between Absences and Learning
Research shows that students who have a large number of absences in the first few years of school are significantly more likely to be below grade level by the end of the third grade and also be behind their peers in social and emotional development as well. This gap continues to widen as the child continues on in their school career. It is imperative that children are in school to collaborate and learn from their peers and teachers.This year we are recognizing students who have perfect attendance at the end of each trimester. EARLY DISMISSAL DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event that a decision is made to close school early prior to the start of the day because of inclement weather, dismissal will be as follows: Kindergarten - 12:45 p.m. Grades 1–3 - 12:30 p.m. No lunch will be provided on early dismissal days.
