The grade 3 Discovery students recently completed a project based on Alaska's Iditarod dogsled race. Students designed and built a dogsled out of "found" materials. They also created a poster with information about "The Last Frontier." We all learned that the race start had to be changed from Anchorage to Fairbanks, due to a lack of snowpack. Finally, the sleds were tested, using a cup, string, and weights to move them across a smooth terrain (table) and a bumpy terrain. Voices of the Land: The grade 2 Enrichment classes went outside to take nature photos. Using 35 mm digital cameras (purchased with an REF grant), each student took three photos of nature outside Lincoln School. Each groups' photos were posted on a Google slideshow.
