Karen Orloff, author of I Wanna Iguana, visited Lincoln School on April 6. Mrs. Orloff read several of her stories to the students, as well as explained how an author created a book and it gets published. Ms. Orloff surprised many students when she said she had never met the illustrators of her books, and that she has very little input on the illustrations. Third grade classes participated in an activity to develop ideas for stories. Ms. Orloff’s books, which are wonderful for teaching persuasive writing, were enjoyed by all of the children throughout the day.
