As we enter the last few weeks of summer, many parents/guardians begin to ask themselves, How do I prepare my child for kindergarten?
Here are some suggestions:
Encourage Independence: Have your child put their items away and clean up after themselves; Dress themselves; Complete small tasks without guidance.
Build Self Help Skills: Toileting; Washing hands; Using napkins to clean face and hands when eating.
Develop and Follow Routines: Create a bedtime routine that will be continued through the school year. Identify foods that your child likes for breakfast and can eat in a timely manner.
Provide Opportunities for Play: Through play, children can practice their communication skills, turn-taking skills, and develop appropriate conflict-resolution. Free-play provides children with opportunities to be creative and explore their world.
By supporting your child’s independence and self- help skills, your child will start the school year with the skills needed to evolve as a life-long learner! We are excited to have your child with us in the fall.
All information regarding the start of the school year will be shared at the end of August, however, information regarding Bulldog Care (before/after care) and the school supply list are available.
