...was celebrated in conjunction with Read Across Rutherford on Monday, March 2. Students from Rutherford High School visited and interacted with students across Rutherford, ranging from preschool to grade 3. During their visit to the Kindergarten Center, kindergarteners enjoyed listening to stories by Dr. Suess, working on story-related crafts, and playing with students on the playground. Congratulations to the Union Middle School Odyssey of the Mind teams! Led by their coach, Mr. Jonathan Evans, the seventh and eighth-grade teams participated in a regional competition at Branchburg Central Middle School on Saturday, February 29th. Team members started working back in September and began applying their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to creating art, and executed their live performance at the competition on the 29th. Elizabeth Duffy visited the grade, eight science classes, vis Skype on Thursday, February 20th from the Jet Propulsion Lab at NASA. She grew up in Union, NJ and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 2011. She has been working at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, CA for the past 9 years as an engineer in the Sample Acquisition and Handling Group.
