The school year is off to a wonderful start at Washington School. Our students have settled into their routines, and it has been exciting to see them learning, growing, and building a strong sense of community.
There is so much to look forward to this fall. We recently celebrated our first All School Sing, and we are already looking ahead to our next one in October. Students will also enjoy our annual pumpkin decorating, Halloween Parade, and our annual Walk for Washington. We are also looking forward to celebrating our Week of Kindness with a variety of special activities, including Spirit Wear days, a character education assembly, and other opportunities for students to recognize and practice kindness throughout the week. These experiences help reinforce the importance of making positive choices and treating others with care and respect. Another favorite tradition, our annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, will return later in November, with classes working together to create their own festive floats.
Our focus on character continues throughout the year as we highlight a PORG competency each month. This month, we continue to focus on Character and encourage students to demonstrate it through their everyday actions, choices, and interactions with others. We are also continuing with our State of the Month, with students learning interesting facts and information about Connecticut.
It has been wonderful to see our students demonstrating school spirit, kindness, and character each day. We look forward to a fall filled with learning, connection, celebration, and many memorable Washington School traditions.
