This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- Optimism. We want the children to learn to find the positive side of life. Research shows that people who are optimistic are healthier and have better coping strategies. At school we will be discussing how to find the goodness in a situation, learning that even rough times will pass, and seeing there may be a way to solve a problem. Parents can help their children develop this trait by asking children to think about the positives that can be found in a difficult situation or having children start their day with a positive affirmation. Parents can also model for their children how they find the “silver lining” in life. We want the children to know that when life gives you lemons, you can think about making lemonade!
