Students have been actively engaged in lessons that highlighted the 6 Cs: Collaboration, Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Character, and Communication. As part of our narrative writing unit, students began an author study on Christian Robinson, exploring both his stories and his unique collage style illustrations. Through thoughtful discussions and observations, students used critical thinking and communication skills to analyze how illustrations help tell a story. Students were so inspired by Robinson’s work, they used their creativity in the art center to design and create their own books, writing about their own lives and things they love! To conclude our study of Christian Robinson, students worked collaboratively in their table groups to shape paper, cut materials, and create their own collage artwork. These open-ended projects encouraged imagination, teamwork, and creativity while also helping students build character and citizenship skills by sharing materials, supporting one another, and working together as a classroom community
