Update on Water Testing
The District's water was tested on May 11 and May 13. The preliminary results indicated that all samples were below applicable standards and recommendations. There were two samples which were slightly elevated. These samples came from the sink in the bathroom in the nurses office in Pierrepont and a fountain in the maintenance office in the basement of Pierrepont. A second test will be conducted to further analyze and evaluate these areas. Both of these areas are not used for drinking by students/faculty/staff and they are both well below the acceptable level. On Thursday, May 26 a Superintendent's Roundtable, focusing on Special Education, will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room at Washington School at 7 p.m. Mr. Hurley will be reviewing current programs, discussing new programs, detailing the long term plan for the district, and introducing new supervisors and staff members. At the September 29 Roundtable, Mrs. Carrion, Mr. Schweitzer and I discussed the many benefits to be realized from the proposed reorganization of schools. If the Board of Education gives their approval to proceed, students in Grades 4-8 will have significantly enhanced educational programs in a more age appropriate environment.
