Dear Rutherford Community, We have officially completed Distance Learning Day 3 and I am very proud of our students, parents, teachers and community for adjusting so quickly. Just last week we were educating 2,700 students within the four walls of our classrooms. In less than two days, we prepared, adapted, modified, and are now successfully educating all of those students at home. Lincoln students have been connecting with their principal. One student sent an email to check in with Dr. Velechko and another student sent pictures of him learning from home. County Executive James Tedesco has ordered the closing of all county public schools beginning Monday, March 16 in response to the rising numbers of COVID-19 in Bergen County. This is not a decision we take lightly, as we know the inconvenience it will bring, but we have been gearing up for this possibility and are solidifying plans to continue educating our students. Mr. Ersalesi, the supervisor of English and Arts for the Rutherford Public Schools, will be reading aloud to students each day during our virtual instruction. The Board of Education meeting planned for Monday, March 16 will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the High School cafeteria. However, the presentation by Parette Somjen Architects and EPIC Management will not take place. It will be rescheduled for the April 6 meeting.
