UMS National Junior Honor Society students offered their time to help the Rutherford Public Library with spring cleanup. Students spent several hours working in the library courtyard preparing it for a spring makeover so that patrons can enjoy the outdoor space. LEAD Graduation
Pierrepont School 6th graders graduated from the LEAD program on April 3, 2019. LEAD, which is taught by instructors from the Rutherford Police Department, is introduced in health class and is designed to deter youth from drugs, crime, bullying, and violence. Chief Russo attended the graduation along with several RPD officers who led students through stations to mimic the impairment to senses while under the influence. Paleontologist Visits Lincoln
Din0 Man traveled to Lincoln School to teach the second graders about the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous time periods. Facility Plans Update
The Board of Education has approved the submission of facility plans to the State Department of Education for review. The plans were revised from the facility plan proposed in the 2018 referendum. The new plans cut nearly $12 million dollars of projects from the original proposal. Due to rising costs including increased tariffs, the net reduction is $7.6 million making the local share of the proposed $45 million dollar project approximately $35 million.
