The Union School English Department is proud to announce two local winners of the 2025-26 Drug Awareness Writing Contest. This year’s theme is: “Drugs Are a Grave Mistake.”
Hawa Arande’s essay, “I Will Never Forget the Day” and Mia DiLorenzo’s poem, “I Never Planned on Becoming a Story” were both selected by the judges as outstanding entries. Both students received $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificates for their achievements.
In addition, Hawa Arande’s essay was advanced by the committee to the State level.
Congratulations to both writers and their teacher, Mrs. Colleen Kiick!
