Meet Ms. Erin White, Response to Intervention (RTI) math instructor at Pierrepont School. Although Ms. White has only been with us for a year, she has made quite an impression with both students and staff.
Ms. White has been influential in working with students who have struggled with mathematics, especially during this hybrid model of learning. She has developed academic intervention plans, each tailored to meet the needs of her students, and has been in frequent communication with them and their families to ensure that the plans are understood. When asked what they like about Ms. White, one student replied, “She is kind, caring and helps me with my grades and assignments, but what I love most about Ms. White is that I am more confident with math after working with her.”
Ms. White has also worked with the RTI team to develop schedules and strategies to assist students with remote learning. She has collaborated closely with teachers across the grade levels to maximize her time, supporting teachers and working with students. Ms. White teaches the whole child — working with his or her strengths toward the goal of improvement. While working with her colleagues, she supports the “re-teach” philosophy that has proven to be a success in the classroom and during her small group sessions.
As a true educator, Ms. White uses her own appreciation and love for mathematics to engage her students and we are lucky to have her!
