Meet Ms. Burcu Demirbulakli, or as the students refer to her, “Ms. D.” Ms. Demirbulakli started her education career in the district 12 years ago as a general education classroom assistant before moving into special education at Pierrepoint School.
“Ms. D. is one of our most positive staff members, who is always spreading joy within the walls of her classroom and the school,” said Jessica Saxon, Pierrepont Assistant Principal. “She is respected by her students and fellow staff members who appreciate the enthusiasm she brings to work every day. Ms. D. takes pride in making connections within the school and her classroom and truly understands the needs of her students.”
Students say she makes learning fun and that her classroom is like a family. While she has high expectations of her students, they say it’s because of that that they learn to be their best.
Ms. D. also plays an active role in social and emotional learning (SEL) at the school by providing opportunities for educationally engaging activities like spirit days and the March Madness school-wide competition.
We appreciate Ms. Demirbulakli and all she does for our RPS family!
