All students in Grades 3-12 attending Rutherford Public Schools have been or will be issued a Chromebook to use in school and at home.
Each Chromebook comes with a limited factory warranty which covers the cost of repair for manufacturer defects. Damages due to accidents or abuse/neglect are the responsibility of the student and subject to the cost of repair or replacement of the device. Lost or stolen Chromebooks must be replaced and will incur a charge totaling the replacement cost.
The District does not provide insurance coverage on the Chromebook. There are cost-effective insurance companies that work with many school districts and have insurance plans specifically for Chromebooks. One such company is Worth Ave Group. Rutherford Public Schools does not receive payments or incentives for recommending any insurer which is a third-party company separate from Rutherford Public Schools.
If you are interested in purchasing insurance through Worth Ave Group, the cost is $25 per device. The Rutherford portal is open through September 30 and can be accessed via this link: https://gpo.worthavegroup.com/gpo/rutherford. Currently enrolled students will NOT be able to purchase insurance after the September 30, 2025 deadline.
The insurance portal will ask for the Student’s First and Last Name, Student Number, and Parent/Guardian Full Name. Student Number can be found by logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and clicking on Demographics & Student ID. If you have an issue finding the Student Number simply type in 000.
