The Rutherford Board of Education is seeking qualified candidates for a vacancy on the board. The appointed term will run through December 2023, and will also be on the ballot in November 2023 for a one-year term to complete the three-year term of the open seat.
School board members must be registered voters, eligible to vote in the Rutherford school district, at least 18 years old, and have lived in the district for at least one year immediately preceding an appointment or election. They must be able to read and write, and cannot hold a contract with or claim against the school district.
Within 30 days of appointment or election, each board member must undergo a criminal history background investigation.

Eligible candidates should submit a letter of interest as well as a resume or statement of experience and qualifications for receipt no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, to:

The board anticipates interviewing candidates at its June 5 meeting in executive session, and appointing the new board member to begin serving at its June 26 meeting.
