The 2020-2021 school year will soon begin. The first day of in-person classes for students in the Bulldog cohort is Tuesday, September 8. The first day of in-person classes for students in the Blue cohort is Wednesday, September 9. Students are expected to log into remote learning lessons when not present in the building.
Remote Learners – The school day for fully remote learners will take place from 7:55-12:18 Monday through Friday. Students will complete a daily attendance check-in at 7:55. Your child will receive an invite from their teacher’s Google Classroom by 7:55 on Tuesday, September 8th. Fully remote learners will be assigned to a homeroom/cohort and will follow their rotating block schedule daily. This will be very similar to what the students experienced at the end of the previous school year. They will complete the same work as their peers who are attending school in the hybrid model. Fully remote students will have the opportunity to participate in live instruction with their peers via platforms such as Zoom, Google Meets, etc. In addition, fully remote learners will log in for lessons that will consist of asynchronous learning: self-guided lessons, streaming video content, posted lectures and notes, online testing tools, and other assigned work. Live instruction and asynchronous learning will occur in back to back block days (A,A,etc.) throughout the school year. For example, a teacher in back to back block day(A, A,etc.) will have 80 minutes to blend live instruction with asynchronous learning. During this time, teachers will allow students to explore essential questions, big ideas, project-based learning, synthesize, apply concepts, etc. Teachers will continue to work in PLCs with their colleagues to ensure continuity and equity for all learners. Teachers will be available for “remote check-in/small group instruction” for a designated period of time for all students each afternoon. Students who receive services like speech, occupational therapy services, and physical therapy will have services delivered via Zoom or Meet. In addition, our Student Assistance Counselor will be meeting with those students who require services.
