Dear Parents\/Guardian:<\/span><\/p>\n

Once again, Pierrepont School is pleased to participate in the motivational reading program, <\/span>BOOKS AND BEYOND.<\/b>\u00a0 We will begin the program on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 for students in Grades 4 and 5. This year\u2019s program is video game themed <\/span>\u201cLevel Up Your Mind…READ!\u201d<\/b>. \u00a0 The following will give you a basic introduction to the program.<\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of Books and Beyond is to generate behavioral changes in students in the area of recreational reading habits.\u00a0 Students are encouraged to record reading in intervals of 20 minutes until they read 200 minutes to complete each level and earn a reward. Those students who successfully complete the program by attaining all five levels will be invited to attend the Books and Beyond Virtual Graduation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, students will be keeping virtual logs that can be found in the \u201cBooks & Beyond\u201d Google Classroom page.\u00a0 Students will join the \u201cBooks & Beyond\u201d classroom and will be introduced to the program during Library Class.\u00a0 On January 19th, students can begin logging their reading minutes in the \u201cLevel 1\u201d log.\u00a0 When they complete the level, your initials will be required as a monitoring device prior to it being turned in.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
