Who is The RHS Concert Band?
The Rutherford High School Concert Band is 87 members strong and growing. All instrument families of a traditional concert band are represented and balanced appropriately by the students of Rutherford High School. RHS Concert Band is a Full Year - 5 credits class.
Performances
The Band performs two annual full length concerts a year in addition to other playing engagements.
Instruments and Repetoir
This course will explore contemporary styles in musical literature relative to the concert band idioms. It will encompass various musical styles such as jazz and classical and is designed to meet the needs of all students (grades 9-12) who are interested in woodwind, brass, and percussion performance.
Lessons
In addition to the regularly scheduled Concert Band period, there are required lessons that meet on a rotating basis one period per week.
Ensembles
Also available to students in the band are extra-curricular activities including:
Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Ensembles, Pit Band and various solo opportunities.
