Respect is a way of treating or thinking about something or someone. If you respect your teacher, you admire your teacher and treat your teacher well. People respect others who are impressive for any reason, such as being in authority \u2014 like a teacher or police officer \u2014 or being an elder \u2014 like a grandparent. We also teach you to respect \u201cthings,\u201d as well as people.
