The best conferences end with both the parents and teachers feeling they have learned something about the child.\u00a0 Parents can make the most of their conference time by using some of these suggestions offered by parents and teachers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Before you go:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Think about what you want to tell the teacher about your child.<\/li>\n<li>How does your child feel about school?<\/li>\n<li>What special interests does your child have?\u00a0 (dinosaurs, cars, art, sports, cooking)<\/li>\n<li>Is there anything you would like to tell the teacher that would help him\/her understand your child?<\/li>\n<li>Ask your child what you might discuss with the teacher and review in the room.\u00a0 If both parents can\u2019t attend, ask for your spouse\u2019s ideas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>At the Conference:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrive on time<\/li>\n<li>The teacher will be prepared to tell you about you child\u2019s schoolwork.\u00a0 Here are some questions you might want to ask:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In what subject does my child do well?<\/li>\n<li>What needs improvement?<\/li>\n<li>Are there any special programs that could help my child?<\/li>\n<li>What can I do at home to help my child?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask questions about any part of the school program that you have questions about (homework, recess, test results, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Be aware that other parents are waiting for their conference.\u00a0 Leave promptly when your conference time ends.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>When you get home:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tell your child something good that the teacher said about him\/her.<\/li>\n<li>Record any important points to share with your spouse.<\/li>\n<li>Keep communicating with the teacher throughout the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The conference offers a special opportunity for parents and teachers to share information about the child.
