{"id":2057,"date":"2020-11-30T16:00:18","date_gmt":"2020-11-30T21:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/lincoln\/?p=2057"},"modified":"2020-11-24T16:52:28","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T21:52:28","slug":"discussing-honesty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/lincoln\/discussing-honesty\/","title":{"rendered":"Discussing Honesty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- <strong>Honesty<\/strong>.\u00a0 Honesty is the ability to be truthful about information, your talents\/challenges and even the ability to be true to your values when no one is present.\u00a0 We will focus on discussions on how characters in stories sometimes are not honest and how this can lead to more discomfort.\u00a0 We also mentioned how it is important to be honest even though there may be a consequence.\u00a0\u00a0 We are trying to teach children that being honest about our actions\/feelings will be better in the long term.\u00a0\u00a0 We also want to model for our children that honesty can be accepting who you are and sharing these traits with others.\u00a0 In order to complement our efforts, parents should discuss with their children a time when being honest was a difficult choice to make.\u00a0\u00a0 Parents can talk about how they felt before and after making a choice to tell the truth.\u00a0 Parents may also want to share a time when they were growing up and learned about honesty.\u00a0 Children like hearing from their parents how they had tough choices too! <strong><em>Honesty is often very hard. The truth is often painful.
