{"id":1719,"date":"2019-12-06T10:00:22","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T15:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/lincoln\/?p=1719"},"modified":"2019-12-03T19:57:14","modified_gmt":"2019-12-04T00:57:14","slug":"teaching-about-the-holidays-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/lincoln\/teaching-about-the-holidays-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching About the Holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In order to teach students about different cultures and traditions, we do recognize holidays celebrated in December like Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa.\u00a0 We also discuss other holidays like Diwali and the Chinese New Year throughout the year.\u00a0 Our first grade students participate in a thematic unit about geography and holidays celebrated around the world and students learn about giving to others through our Giving Tree.
