The Kindergarten Center staff has identified various areas for parents to consider to further support individual student growth.\u00a0 Please review and be reflective of\u00a0 how you can support your child to grow as you see fit.<\/p>\n

Self-help:<\/div>\n

\n
    \n
  • Independently packing and unpacking backpack including carrying their own bags without parent assistance as well as packing and unpacking homework at home.<\/li>\n
  • Dressing- Putting on and taking off jackets and sweatshirts, practicing tying shoes, and independently zipping, buttoning and snapping clothing.<\/li>\n
  • Independent toileting and awareness (speaking up when need to go) should be mastered.<\/li>\n
  • Having expectations for your child\u00a0to do things on their own or to try on their own first.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
    Communication and Safety:<\/div>\n
    \n
      \n
    • Stating full name (first and last), birthday, age and address.<\/li>\n
    • Identifying\u00a0and being able to share\u00a0their parents full names.<\/li>\n
    • Knowing an emergency phone number.<\/li>\n
    • Listening and following directions.<\/li>\n
    • At this age, students often have a difficult\u00a0time telling about their\u00a0day.\u00a0 To help promote\u00a0communication about their day at school, ask specific questions such as what activity did you do with Mr. Foster; How many songs did you practice in Music with Mr. Sheridan; Did your teacher read a story out loud?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      • Using please and thank you.<\/li>\n
      • Waiting to speak without interrupting\u00a0someone and waiting to take turns in a game or activity.<\/li>\n
      • Sitting during meals.<\/li>\n
