OF THE

RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION

JULY 17, 2000

A regular meeting of the Board of Education was held on Monday evening, July 17, 2000 in the High School Library. Meeting was called to order by President Willis at 7:30 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

On roll call the following members were present: Mrs. Ahmed, Mr. Ferguson, Mr. Ferrara, Mr. McGehrin, Mrs. Miceli, Mrs. Monahan, Mr. Novosielski, and Mrs. Willis. Mr. Derner arrived at 7:41 P.M. Also present were Mrs. Conlon and Dr. Verbist.

N.J. OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS LAW

The New Jersey Open Public Meeting Law was enacted to insure the right of the public to have advance notice of and to attend the meeting of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is discussed or acted upon. In accordance with the provisions of this Act, the Rutherford Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be published by having the date, time and place thereof posted on the bulletin board outside the Borough Clerk's Office, mailed to the News Leader, Herald, South Bergenite, and the Record newspapers, and filed with the Borough Clerk.

DONNA SPIRO 2. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION to correct resolution #15 of the meeting of 6/12/00 as follows:

Shift differential should read $975.20 (3rd shift) not $731 (2nd shift).

DIANE FERRIS 3. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION that approval be granted for the child study team to contract Ms. Diane Ferris as a occupational therapist for the 2000-2001 school year at a cost of $40 per half-hour session.

RICKARD REHAB SERVS 4. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION that approval be granted for the child study team to contract Rickard Rehabilitation Services, Inc. as physical therapists for the 2000-2001 school year at a cost of $235 for initial evaluation, $60 per session, $55 per session for two or more students at one facility and $55 per session held at clinic.

SYDNEY PERLOW 5. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION that approval be granted for the child study team to contract Ms. Sydney Perlow as a occupational therapist for the 2000-2001 school year at the rate of $65 per one-hour session.

POOL PERSONNEL 6. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION that approval be granted to employ Ms. Patti Cleary as a lifeguard effective 7/18/00 at the hourly rate of $7.50 (step 1).

* Any lifeguard or headguard who receives an A.R.C. Lifeguard Training Certificate will receive $.25 more per hour on his/her step.

** Any guard who receives an American Red Cross "B.L.S. - C.P.R. For the Professional Rescuer" will receive $.25 more per hour on his/her step.

RETIREMENT MONIES 8. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION that approval be granted to authorize payment of the following monies to staff, upon retirement, in lieu of the unused sick leave, in accordance with the agreement between the Rutherford Board of Education and the Rutherford Education Association (subject to further negotiations):

LOUISE HETZEL 9. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION that approval be granted to employ Ms. Louise Hetzel as a math teacher at Union School effective 9/1/00 through 6/30/01 at the annual salary of $38,511 (level 2, step 6) per contractual agreement and subject to further negotiations (increase in salary not in step) between the Rutherford Board of Education and the Rutherford Education Association and in accordance with law.
