MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION
APRIL 8, 2002
A regular meeting of the
Board of Education was held on Monday evening, April 8, 2002 at the High School
Cafeteria. Meeting was called to
order by President Willis at 7:36 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the
Flag.
On
roll call the following members were present: Mrs. Ahmed, Mr. Brancato, Mrs. Cevasco, Mr. Derner, Mrs.
Miceli, Mrs. Monahan, Mr. Novosielski, and Mrs. Willis. Mr. Ferrara was absent for the entire
meeting. Also present were Mrs.
Conlon and Ms. Davis.
The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enacted to
ensure the right of the public to have advance notice of and to attend the
meeting of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is
discussed or acted upon. In
accordance with the provisions of this Act, the Rutherford Board of Education
has caused notice of this meeting to be published by having the date, time and
place thereof posted on the bulletin board outside the Borough Clerk's Office,
mailed to the News Leader, Herald, South Bergenite, and the Record newspapers,
and filed with the Borough Clerk.
TAPING AND BROADCASTING
OF MEETINGS
As approved by the
Rutherford Board of Education at the March meeting, we are in a trial period of
taping and broadcasting our worksessions and regular meetings. We are continuing our trial period
broadcast, pending receipt of the evaluation of trial period. These meetings will be broadcast
without editing during a two-hour time segment on Tuesday evenings on the
Comcast public access channel. At
the conclusion of the two-hour segment, the broadcast will end regardless of
what part of the meeting is currently being viewed due to the Comcast time
constraint. Any member of the
public who wishes to view the two-hour tape should make a written request to
the Board Secretary who will have a copy of the tape made available within two
weeks of the request. There will
be a nominal fee charged for this tape reproduction.

accepts the financial reports of the Treasurer of School Monies for the month
ending January and February, 2002.
Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11 (c) (4), we certify that as of
January 31, 2002 and February 28, 2002, after review of the treasurerÕs monthly
financial report and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials,
to the best of our knowledge, there are sufficient funds available to meet the

IT RESOLVED THAT THE RUTHERFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION does
TRANSPORTATION hereby
approve an agreement with the South Bergen Jointure Commission, an approved
Coordinated Transportation Service Agency, for the purpose of transporting
students in accordance with Chapter 53, P.L. 1997 for the time period 7/1/02
through 6/30/03. The services to
be provided include, but are not limited to, the Coordinated Transportation of
non-public, out of district special education, vocational and summer programs.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rutherford Board of Education agrees to abide by
the Transportation Services Agreement as published by the South Bergen Jointure
Commission and attached to this resolution.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rutherford Board of Education enter into a joint
transportation agreement with the South Bergen Jointure for the period 7/1/02
through 6/30/03 at a rate to be determined.

Contracted Services Agreement with South Bergen Jointure Commission for the

ring supplier for the Class of 2004, based on proposals received by the Class
of 2004 Advisors.

EDUCATION to accept, with deepest thanks, the donation of GirlsÕ Softball
Equipment to the High School Athletic Department from parents of team members.

OF EDUCATION to approve the agreement between the Rutherford Board of Education
and the Bergen Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross to use Rutherford
High School, Pierrepont School, and Union School for mass care shelters in the
conduct of Red Cross Disaster
Relief activities and to cooperate with the Red Cross for such purposes.
LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE 3. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RUTHERFORD BOARD
OF EDUCATION to approve the use of Union and Washington Schools as ÒSafe
HavensÓ for children participating in the Rutherford Little League Parade,
should the need arise, between the hours of 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM on Saturday,
April 13, 2002.
