How You Can Help

REF's fund raising success over the years has been made possible by the tireless efforts of many volunteers and the great generosity of many financial supporters.  There are numerous ways to make a positive contribution and support the Rutherford Education Foundation.  Here are a few ideas:

• Community Alliance Program - This is one of the best ways for you to help the REF and there is absolutely no cost to you! If you are a customer of Boiling Springs Savings Bank, please go to your local branch, indicate your willingness to participate in the Community Alliance Program, and designate the REF as your chosen charity. If you are not a customer, you may open an account and designate us as your charity. Boiling Springs will make quarterly donations to our organization based on the average balance of all of the Bank accounts that have been designated. Needless to say, all bank account information is kept strictly confidential. Download the Community Alliance Banking form and return it to Boiling Springs to start helping today.

• Attend REF Events - These fundraisers are REF's main source of funds.  Attending the annual wine tasting is a great way to support the REF and have a great evening as well. Our annual Barnes & Noble Bookfair at the Clifton Commons Barnes & Noble is a great way to help out. A percentage of your purchase will be donated to the REF from Barnes & Noble.  These events are great fun, while supporting a great cause.

• Volunteer - The cornerstone of REF's success is volunteerism.  The tireless effort of trustees and other community members is what makes our events so successful.  Please consider volunteering for the next REF event or inquire about how you can become a Trustee.

• Make a Donation - It is because of your generous financial support that REF has been able to have such a positive impact on the educational programs in the Rutherford public schools.  Download the attached form today and mail in your donation. Donations to REF are welcome in many forms.  Below are some additional options: 

• Donate Items, Services or Gift Certificates for the Wine Tasting Auction - Generate exposure for your business, while helping to make our Wine Tasting Auction a great success.  If you would like to donate an item or service for this year's Wine Tasting, please email us at ref@rutherfordschools.org.
• Donate Stocks and/or Securities - Donating stocks or other securities may enable you to contribute to REF in a manner that provides you with an additional tax benefit.  Keep in mind that donations of securities and other property are valued at their current market value for tax purposes.  Please consult your own tax professional to see if this donation option makes sense for you.
• Bequests Under a Will - Planned giving is a unique way to assist the REF in its mission. Take some time to review this concept with an estate planning expert. 
• Ask your Employer to Match your Donation  - Your gift can have a double impact, as many corporations will match donations made by their employees. If your company has a Matching Gifts Program, just request the form that will multiply your gift by two. We would be happy to provide information that will qualify your donation for matching gifts and assist with the completion of forms.
