On March 8, 2004 the following grants were announced:
Supplemental Reading Materials – Allison Heinzel, a second grade teacher, requested funds to purchase reading books for each classroom in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades throughout the district. The books will provide a literature connection to the Science program. The books will be selected to coincide with the FOSS Science stories to integrate with development of skills related to literacy.
Class Web Page – Joan Macri, a fourth grade teacher, requested funds to acquire an iMac computer and computer desk to enable her to work with her class to develop a web page for the purpose of displaying student’s work.
World Language Day – Harriet Saxon and Patricia Fackina, seventh grade teachers, requested funds to support a Saturday World Language program presented by the 7th and 8th grade students throughout the district. The objective of the program is for students to acquire an appreciation and enjoyment of languages by observing and participating in various activities.
Rutherford Renaissance - Michael Stracco, an English teacher in the High School, requested funds to support a Rutherford Renaissance Festival as part of the 11th grade English course of studies. Information learned in the English course will be used to develop a Renaissance Festival production that will involve various other disciplines and will be open to the public at large.
