GOVERNOR’S TEACHER RECOGNITION PROGRAM
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES PROFESSIONALS’ PROGRAM
The Governor’s Teacher Recognition Program was developed in 1985 for the purpose of acknowledging teachers who exhibit outstanding performance. Each school district is invited to select teachers to be recognized for their achievements. Nominees must have earned tenure in their position in the Rutherford schools.
We are once again inviting you to nominate a teacher you feel should be honored. The criteria to be used are as follows:
- use of effective instructional techniques and methods
- establishment of productive classroom climate and rapport with students
- development of feelings of self-worth and love of learning in students.
In addition, you should carefully consider the following criteria as well:
- use of creativity, innovation, and efficiency in the classroom
- ability to increase student achievement of the Core Curriculum Content Standards through a learning-focused environment
- ability to contribute to the quality of the professional development in Rutherford
- ability to use educational technology in an effective and efficient manner.
OR
You may nominate an educational services professional (media specialist, athletic trainer, counselor or director of counseling, library media specialist, LDTC, reading specialist, school nurse, occupational or physical therapist, social worker, speech-language specialist, Substance Awareness Coordinator, psychologist).
The criteria should be as follows:
- positive interactions while being an advocate for the student between home and school
- fostering an appropriate environment for learning and creative alternatives to enable all students to function to their fullest potential
- supporting classroom instruction by addressing educational, social, and emotional needs of all students
- personal interactions with students that demonstrate professionalism, while retaining respect, humor, compassion, and concern for the whole child.
