Physical education is required in all four years of high school. Students participate for three marking periods in physical education and one marking period of health. Our physical education program is co-educational and emphasizes both team sports and individual activities. An emphasis is placed on physical fitness training which includes aerobic conditioning, upper body strength and abdominal strength/endurance. Click here to see the Fitness Award Recipients.

Classes We Offer
Health 9
Human growth and development are studied in freshman health. Along with discussions about tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.
Health 10
The theory part of Driver Education is taught in sophomore year health. Laws and penalties for intoxication and substance abuse while driving are explicitly reviewed.
Health 11
Junior health is devoted to first aid and helps students gain a knowlege of the proper steps to take in emergency situations.
Health 12
Senior health deals with family living and problem solving techniques needed in early adulthood situations.
Aerobic Conditioning
This opportunity is offered to those juniors and seniors who wish to undertake a more intense cardio-vascular workout program. The emphasis of this course is on reducing body fat, becoming aerobically fit, decreasing the risk of developing coronary heart disease,and developing lifetime fitness activities.
Aquatics/Fitness
Interested in physical conditioning? Bicycling? Swimming? Weight Training? This semester elective combines all of these interests. Students utilize the pool, gym, weight room, and classroom in order to incorporate all the necessary aspects of good physical and mental conditioning.
Water Sports
Want to get wet and have a lot of fun? This class plays games such as water baseball, volleyball, hockey, basketball, and water polo. In addition to these games activities like rowing, canoeing, kayaking, and snorkeling are also done. Students will also have an opportunity to earn American Red Cross certification in Community Water Saftey.
