Director of Athletics

Mr. David Frazier (Rutherford High School – Class of 1989) is in his tenth year as Rutherford High School’s Director of Athletics and Supervisor of the Physical Education Department. In addition, Mr. Frazier serves as the vice-president of the NJSIAA and is president of the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC). As a staff member, Mr. Frazier has served as a teacher of Physical Education and as head and assistant coach for several sports at RHS.

Mr. Frazier earned his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Manhattan College and has a Masters Degree from Montclair State University. In 2004, Mr. Frazier received designation as a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. While attending Manhattan College, Mr. Frazier was a two-time Penn Relay Champion (1993 & 94), MAAC Champion, IC4A Champion, and an NCAA Division I All-American in the triple jump. He competed professionally in track and field ranking # 1 in New Jersey and in the top 25 triple jumpers in the U.S. He has used his knowledge of the event to coach New Jersey’s first state champion in the triple jump (Janek Augustynowicz, R.H.S. Mr. Frazier values athletics and the benefits of athletic participation.  Participation promotes sportsmanship and citizenship.  It encourages teamwork and teaches many life lessons that translate outside the realm of athletics. He hopes to continue to bring about positive and innovative changes, while maintaining the proud tradition of Rutherford Athletics.
