Principal’s Hotline

PRINCIPAL’S PARENT HOTLINE

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday break and the New Year is off to a good start.

  • Thank you to all of the students, parents, and staff who donated so generously to Silver Bells.  A special thank you goes out to the Student Council, Mr. Breheney, Mr. Helphingstine, Mrs. Frattarola, and Mrs. Else for their efforts to make this year’s Silver Bells a success.
  • This is a good time to review with your children what you expect them to do if an emergency closing is called after the start of the school day.  In the event of an emergency closing, students will be dismissed at 12:20 p.m.  After school care is canceled on emergency closing days.  If you are not available to pick your children up at school, it is imperative that they know what to do and where to go.  Children who are not picked up will be transported by the Rutherford Police to headquarters where they will be supervised until released to a parent or parent designee.
  • School will be closed on Monday, January 16 in commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • The winter band concert will be held on January 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.  I hope you can join us.
  • The Books and Beyond reading incentive program will begin on January 24.
  • The second marking period closes on January 29.  Reports cards will be issued on February 9.

Best Regards,

Joan Carrion

EMERGENCY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Should a one-session day be called because of inclement weather, students  in Grades
4 – 8 will be dismissed at 12:20 P.M.

It is imperative that your children know the procedures you expect them to follow upon leaving school.

The “Alert Now” system will notify parents by contacting phone numbers and/or email addresses currently on school records.  Each Pierrepont Family received an “Alert Now” call earlier this year during our test run.  If a phone or email contact has changed and the school has not been notified, the system will not be able to alert you to an emergency closing.  Please keep the office informed of any changes.

Students remaining at school because they have not been picked up or given directions where to go after dismissal, will be given over to the custody of the Rutherford Police Department and will remain at Police Headquarters until picked up by a responsible adult.
